Returns & Refunds Policy

At BackToModern, we take pride in the quality of our products and aim to provide you with a confident shopping experience. Please read our returns and refund policy carefully, as it outlines important details about returns, restocking fees, and eligibility for refunds. The 14-day trial period begins the day your item is delivered.

Returns Policy for New/Unused Items within 14 Days of Delivery

We allow returns of items in new and unused condition for a full refund, minus a 4.5% credit card processing fee, within 14 days of delivery. No restocking fee applies. However, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. E-bikes may be returned even if the box is opened, provided the bike has less than 20 miles on the odometer and is shipped back within the 14-day period.

Returns Policy for New/Unused Items within 30 Days of Delivery

If you wish to return an item after the 14-day period but within 30 days, the item must be in new and unused condition. Returns in this timeframe will incur return shipping charges and a restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price.

Returns Policy for Used Items

Items returned in used condition (e.g., bikes with over 20 miles on the odometer) can be returned within 30 days of purchase. These returns are subject to return shipping charges and a restocking fee of 70% of the purchase price. Items must be free from damage, and e-bikes must have less than 100 miles on the odometer. The original retail box must also be included and undamaged.

Return Shipping Costs

Customers are responsible for all return shipping expenses, which are non-refundable. We recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance to ensure secure delivery. While we cannot guarantee receipt of your returned item, these measures reduce risks during transit.

Refused Shipments Under 130 lbs

If you refuse delivery of an order (e.g., bikes weighing 130 lbs or less) that we shipped at your request, we will impose a flat fee of $100–$250 per e-bike, depending on shipping costs. Once the shipment is returned to us, we will issue a refund for the purchase price minus the shipping fee and card processing fees of 4.5%. Please note that shipped orders cannot be modified, intercepted, or canceled.

Refused Shipments Over 130 lbs (SURRON or Similar models  E-Dirt Bikes)

For refused deliveries or cancellations of orders weighing over 130 lbs (e.g., SURRON or similar models ), a fee of up to $400 per item (per direction) will apply. This fee offsets our shipping expenses. Upon receipt of the returned shipment, we will refund the purchase price, deducting any incurred shipping fees and 4.5% credit processing fees.

Battery Returns

Due to shipping carrier restrictions on high-capacity lithium-ion batteries, battery purchases are non-returnable. Please verify your battery needs carefully before purchase.

Cancellations

Cancellations before shipment can incur fees to cover credit card processing of 4.5% and shipping label costs. As a small business, these fees help offset the resources involved in processing cancellations.

Major Issues Within the First 5 Miles

If your vehicle experiences a major issue or stops functioning within the first 5 miles on the odometer, we will cover shipping both ways and resolve the issue or provide a replacement promptly. These issues must be reported within 14 days to qualify for this policy.
